Our adventure flight departs from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Upon
arrival at our airport you will be greeted warmly by our staff and all safety
rules will be explained to you. You will receive your lifejackets and
your weight will be determined so that we can calculate the flight weight. The
pilot will introduce himself to you and our hostesses will accompany you to the
helicopter. You will then be allocated to your seats, and all seat belts will
be fastened. The pilot then does his final few checks of the helicopter and the
engine is started. The engine roars, the rotor blades thunder and with a brief
jerk we rise vertically, immediately gazing upon Table Mountain and its
adjacent peaks. With a sharp left turn we fly directly towards Table Bay, where
Robben Island can be seen in the distance.
this flight we have a duty to fulfil - a Combat Mission. We fly to the west
coast of Cape Town and conquer the long Bloubergstrand at low altitude. With
thunderous noise we engage the butter mountain and attempt a landing, which due
to a sandstorm is quickly aborted. With sharp left and right turns we will
decamp the site, revealing just what capabilities this military helicopter has.
Once our Combat Mission is complete, we fly off back to Blouberg and can watch
the surfers from high above. Robben Island is dead ahead and with a sharp turn
we head for Cape Town and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront once again.
