Robben Island Helicopter Flight – Cape Town Scenic Flights in South Africa
- from ZAR 1.750 per person
- 2 persons
At the previously arranged time you will be arriving at the heliport at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, where our ground crew will receive you and give you a warm welcome. You will be briefed on all necessary safety instructions, a lifejacket will be handed to you and your weight will be determined for the purpose of establishing the helicopter’s load capacity.
After the pilot has welcomed you on board, he will make some last arrangements before the rotor blades will slowly start rotating. With the steady increase of speed you will be ascending into the air, from where you will have the opportunity of taking fabulous photos of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and the famous 12 Apostles.
Our destination is Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years of his life. He was assigned prisoner number 46664 and had to live in a small cell. He had to work in a quarry day in and day out, badly affecting his eyesight in the bright sun. Due to international protests, the quarry was closed down in 1974. Today, Robben Island has become a memorial site and has been declared a World Heritage Site.
We will be heading towards the harbour, flying round the small island and will be able to see the prison along with the various facilities, the cemetery as well as the quarry. It is now time to leave the island and we will be flying back towards Bloubergstrand, where we will be able to watch many talented surfers performing their stunts.
We will proceed with our flight back to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront where you will be picked up by our hostesses once landed. Back in the little terminal you will have the opportunity to take a last souvenir photo with the pilot.
Please do not hesitate to contact us via email for more information and we will get back to you shortly.
